Job Summary:
We are seeking enthusiastic Canine Handlers to join our team. The ideal candidates should have a passion for dogs and a willingness to learn and follow The Fear Free methodology. Must have experience with large, high-energy dogs in group play!
As a Dog Handler at our facility in Plano, you will be responsible for the day-to-day care and management of dogs. Your primary role will involve providing supervision, training, socialization, and physical activity for the dogs in our care. You will work closely with a team of professionals to create a safe and enjoyable environment for all dogs and ensure they have a positive experience.
Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work weekends and holidays! Also need to be on your feet for extended periods of time. We are looking for part-time or full-time.
Responsibilities:
- Handle dogs in daycare and boarding in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Execute daily play sessions to improve and maintain, agility, and socialization skills
- Ensure dogs' physical and mental safety in their environment
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of socialization progress, health checks, and any incidents or concerns observed
- Maintain a clean and organized play area, ensuring the safety of both dogs and handlers
Requirements:
- Prior dog handling experience in group play
- A positive attitude and ability to get along well with others
- Ability and willingness to stand and walk for the vast majority of your shift
- Weekend and holiday availability
- Deep knowledge and understanding of various dog breeds, their temperaments, and behavior patterns is beneficial but not required (we have training for this)
- Ability to handle and control dogs of all sizes and temperaments
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with dog owners and team members
- Physical stamina and strength to handle dogs of various sizes
